AW26 'Tyto Alba & the Winter'...
White, frosty winter landscapes, and the wonderful stillness they offer inspired the aesthetic of this collection. Frozen puddles along the roadside, beautifully marbled and richly colored, and all the fantastic textures of the snowy world that formed from them, became a major source of inspiration. Together with the few birdsongs in the area, a magical world opened up to us.
Fittingly, we remembered a friend, the nature photographer and nature lover Christian Wolf. He takes wonderful, impressive photos of birds and much more, giving our fellow creatures a special dignity and attention. He allowed us to work with some of his photographs. And so these birds find their way into our world, to be especially honored and to remind us, on behalf of all beings, to welcome our fellow creatures even more warmly:
Barn Owls (pair)
Black-backed Shrike
White-tailed Eagle
Goldfinch
Bluethroat
Robin
Barbet
Regarding the specific work, silhouettes, and colors:
Using the marbling technique, we created images/papers that formed the basis for transferring them onto the fabrics and brought these into dialogue with the photographs of the birds. The silhouettes remain rather calm and closed, playing slightly with wrapping elements. The colors reflect the "winter outdoors" and range from icy white, cream, and gray tones, through color highlights from iridescent ice-sun reflections, to darker, natural forest and wood tones, as well as variations of darker marbling techniques.
